6.STARTING UP
In this section we show you how the buttons on the ELITE MVB 850 control panel work.
NOTE: The data that appears in the different images is an example, each type of tool has its recommended data and the sharpening professional must know them.
Emergency stop
It is the red button located at the bottom right, in the penultimate row of buttons. In the event that there is a failure in use or a dangerous situation is being created, it allows the automatic disconnection of the machine.
Not to be used unless strictly necessary.
Once used to use the machine again, it must be pulled to return to the initial position.
ATTENTION: Under no circumstances should this control be modified or manipulated, this automatically puts the operator and people around him at risk of serious injury.
Sharpening operation
To start the sharpening process, you must first make sure that the emergency stop button is not activated.
The two types of modes in which it can operate are STOP MODE and START MODE.
DANGER: never manipulate the control panel buttons while changing the grinding wheel: risk of very serious injuries.
ATTENTION: before starting the wheel we must make sure that it is well attached to the axis where it is located and that NO ONE is manipulating the area where it rotates. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN THE WHEEL BE STARTED WHILE SOMEONE IS MANIPULATING IT.
6.1.Power on and referencing
Turn on the machine with the ignition selector in the ON position, deactivate the emergency stop if it is active.
The machine's screen turns on and so does the green light of the traffic light.
Check that no shaft will collide with the referencing grinding wheel.
Then close the cabin and press the START button and follow the instructions on the screen.
IMPORTANT: Do not open the cabin while the machine is referencing. If you accidentally open it, turn the machine off again and repeat the process.
Once the machine has finished referencing it is ready to work.
6.2.Changing the grinding wheel
Necessary tools: Open wrench No. 17.
With the machine off, remove the hex screw from the bottom of the grinding wheel. Hold the wheel and the wheel holder ring throughout the process so that it does not fall.
Now insert the new wheel.
Replace the centering ring in the correct position so that the centering bolt passes through the centering ring.
Replace the hex screw and tighten.
Changing the grinding wheel
6.3. Changing the saw holder
The Elite MVB 850 sharpener comes equipped with two (2) saw stands. One up to ø850 mm and another support for incisions.
To change the support, we remove the two (2) screws and keep them. Now we have the support out. It is important to make sure that when the support comes out, the bolt remains in its position. The 10 mm bolt will wear out over time and use due to the rubbing of the centering rings, so when the time comes it will have to be exchanged for a new bolt.
Next, we place the second support that equips the machine, which is for incisors that covers from ø100 to ø200 mm and we make sure to fix it well and we have it. Now, the bolt itself limits the diameter that we can put on the saw blade.
The operation is the same, we put a centering ring and we can now place the disc to be sharpened. In this way, we have it ready to work.
Change of saw holder
6.4.Adjustment of the feed curve according to the diameter of the circular saw
Depending on the diameter of the disc, the feed curve will need to be adjusted so that the feed pawl can advance the saw.
NOTE: To adjust the feed curve the feed pawl must be in its lower position. Otherwise the force of the spring will move the nail to the initial position and we will lose the current position.
7.GRINDING OPERATION
7.1.Back-off grinding
To bring the grinding wheel closer to the top of the tooth, once we have verified that we have placed the appropriate wheel for sharpening the top or external part of the tooth, we go to the final part of the program and press the START button located in the lower left corner. The information message will appear on the screen as the sharpener will proceed to rotate the stone. We press the START button again and then the machine prepares itself.
Next, we close the clamp by pressing the third button on the second line of the control panel, the one in which two converging arrows are shown. Using the button in the second position of the second line of the tooth advance panel, we verify that we are on the correct tooth, as requested by the machine, and we move the advance nail away. At this point, the instruction appears on the menu screen to rub the stone in the degrees indicated by the selected tooth shape.
From here, we can move the axes using the three buttons on the first row of the control panel, to zoom at fast speed or, if we press the menu selector once, at slow speed.
To begin the approach, we leave the fast speed selected and then look for half of the stone to rub against the flat part of the trapezoid tooth. Once we have the stone close enough, we press the white menu selector again to select the slow speed. At this lower speed, we finish making the approach, always with visual support and using the axis movement buttons.
Once the stone is already rubbing against the tooth, we must raise the stone to the point where the sharpening will begin. At this point, we will make the stone enter rubbing and without touching either the top tooth or the bottom tooth so that it makes the complete sharpening path. This is going to be the starting point.
After determining the starting point, we press the START button again and the machine prepares itself towards the second point it needs on the trapezoid tooth. This will depend on the type of saw to be sharpened: there are saws that, due to their tooth geometry, only need one point and there are others that require two. In the case at hand, that of the trapezoid, it needs two points.
We will see that the machine is placed on the inside of the trapezoid tooth and, without advancing the tooth, we quickly move the stone. Once we are very close, press the menu selector again.
Back-off grinding
7.2.Top grinding
Only available with machines with the optional saw sharpening accessory.
To bring the stone closer to the top of the tooth, once we have verified that we have placed the appropriate stone for sharpening the top or external part of the tooth, we go to the final part of the program and press the START button located in the lower left corner. In the case at hand, that of the trapezoid, it needs two points.
We will see that the machine is placed on the internal part of the trapezoid tooth and, without advancing the tooth, We quickly move the stone. Once we are very close, press the menu selector again.
Sharpening the top of the tooth
7.3.Sharpening of the tooth face
Only available with machines with the optional saw sharpening accessory.
To proceed to bring the tooth closer to the face or internal part of the saw blade, we will make sure to select the appropriate program; the one in which within the Tooth parameter it shows us the Flat Face option on the control panel screen. To do this, we will use the white selector located in the upper right part of the control panel and we will turn it until the screen shows us the program we want to select.
Next, we press the START button located at the bottom left of the control panel. So that the following warning message appears on the menu screen: ATTENTION. The wheel/stone is rotated (this is an informative message that warns us of the danger of being near the abrasive stone). After this, we press the START button again. We will see how the machine prepares for the sharpening process.
At this point, using the direction arrows that will allow us to move the axes, we will be able to move the stone at a fast speed. If, on the other hand, we want to select the slow speed, we will press the white selector once and select the axes that we require to move.
This allows us to make the initial approach with fast speed.
Important note: at this point, it is important to make sure you have the jaw closed and the tooth to be sharpened correct.
Once we are very close to the tooth, we will change the speed to slow on the menu screen using the white selector.
At this moment, we must introduce the abrasive stone to the point of the internal part where we want the sharpening to reach, contacting it, and to the part where we want to enter. It is at this point where the sharpening will end and where we must approximate it.
Once we have the approximate saw, we press the START button again and the sharpening cycle will begin to run.

8.MAINTENANCE
8.1.Preventive maintenance
Maintenance of the ELITE MVB 850 sharpeners is very simple but at the same time important.
It consists of the following:
- Cleaning of the carriage guides - Daily
- Cleaning and greasing the polished parts, in case the machine is not used for several days, to prevent oxidation.
- Check the level of coolant in the coolant tank. You can use to refill the coolant the ELITE SintoCut PRO MIX. The coolant should be mixed with water between 2 and 8%. Being below it can lead to oxidation of mechanical parts and if the level is higher it can be toxic. - Monthly.
- The sludge and dirty that is deposited both in the work area and in the coolant tank must be emptied - Weekly.
- Keeping the machine clean and in good condition will allow for optimal long-term use.
Use the equipment only in dry environments. The temperature must be between 5 and 40ºC. A relative humidity greater than 90%, as well as a saline environment, would cause premature corrosion of the machine.
To lubricate the pneumatic circuit we recommend using Esso Spinesso oil
